I am so excited about this post. Jessica and Noel’s wedding is definitely in my top 3 favorite weddings ever filmed! It was amazing from start to finish. When I first met with them, I was so excited to hear they would be having a gospel duo at their ceremony and a mariachi band at the cocktail hour – two things I have always said I will have at my own wedding. From the first moment I arrived to film Jessica getting ready, you could feel the energy in the room. The two of them definitely have a strong bond between them. I remember overhearing Jessica say she was overwhelmed with the feeling of love that morning and didn’t know how she was so lucky to experience it. Amazing! They had a Roman Catholic ceremony but were able to mix in a few more personal elements. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house the first time the gospel duo started belting out the tunes (which included a version of Wind Beneath My Wings, how awesome is that?). Jessica and Noel were together 10 years before they got married. It is always so cool to experience such a long relationship because everyone around them knows so much of their history together. I could really go on all day but I will let the video speak for itself. Congrats Jessica and Noel!
Samie and Ryan got married just as hurricane Irene was about to make a debut in New York City. Amidst evacuation warnings, torrential down pours and a little bit of stress, Samie and Ryan said “I do” at Holy Trinity Church right by Central Park. I really admire Samie for her ability to remain so calm during such a crazy experience! I know a lot of stress happened in the 24 hours before the wedding, but once it was time to walk down the aisle none of that mattered any more. It was just about her and Ryan and their love for one another. Samie and Ryan, I wish you the very best in your new life together!
Samie was also interviewed by channel 7 news minutes before walking down the aisle. Check out the clip here: NYC wedding goes on as Irene approaches.
Allison and Turner had a very long history as friends. Meeting their freshman year of college, they have remained close over the last 12 or so years before finally (as it was joked about in speeches throughout the night) deciding they were in love and getting married. Allison’s grandmother in particular was always convinced they would end up together and often asked her parents “how’s that nice man from college”? She knew he was the one for Allison even when her and Turner weren’t as sure! Allison and Turner had a beautiful ceremony followed by an elegant and fun reception at the Central Park Boathouse. Surrounded by family and friends, they committed their lives to one another and spent the evening celebrating their love. Turner and Allison I wish you all the best in this new chapter of your lives together!
Cheka and Brandon had an amaaazing wedding at the Renaissance Austin Hotel. Any time I get the chance to work with Aimee from Lizze Belle events I am so happy! She is the best. Cheka and Brandon are so sweet and were the most calm I think I have ever seen on a wedding day. Cheka spent the afternoon getting ready with her bridesmaids and her amazing makeup artist Maris while Brandon hung out with his groomsmen in a room next door. It was so nice to be around such a laid back group! After their beautiful ceremony, the reception was full of heart felt speeches that of course had me teary eyed and a night full of dancing. I don’t think Cheka sat down to take a break at all! Cheka and Brandon, I wish you a lifetime full of happiness and love.
Cheka and Brandon also worked with a great photographer, Maria Bernal. Besides her great photos, Maria is an amazing painter and she painted versions of some of Cheka’s bridal portraits – they were so beautiful! Check out her website for more of her work.
Aisha and Jon had the most adorable first dance so I wanted to build their preview around it – it was so perfectly coordinated. They were married in late July on the most perfect summer day at the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers. Jon and Aisha have a long history together and the most beautiful baby girl, Akira. She slept through almost the entire wedding! Waking only at the very end to join her parents for one last dance. Aisha and Jon, I wish your family of three all the best as you begin this new chapter in your lives together!
When Amanda’s mom Joy first contacted me about shooting her Alabama wedding, I jumped at the chance. My family lives in Birmingham and I went to college at Auburn University so I will use any excuse to get back to the south! There was absolutely no detail left undone at Amanda and Matt’s wedding at the Shoal Creek Country Club. Amanda and Matt are both huge music fans (Matt is a musician himself) so that was a big part of their ceremony and reception. They had several super talented friends sing during the ceremony and then the most fun New Orleans Jazz band during cocktail hour. From the moment I met Matt and Amanda, I could feel the love between them. Besides the nervous excitement of seeing each other for the first time, they were both so calm and ready to be married. Once the ceremony was over, Amanda and Matt danced the night away with all of their friends and family. Amanda and Matt I wish you a lifetime of happiness together!
Amanda and Matt had an amazing list of vendors for their wedding:
MB Photo – Mandy and I know each other through a mutual friend and it was so fun working with her!
Anita Kanellis Weddings – She is AMAZING!
And a huge thank you to Courtney from Kinora Films for assisting me!
Myles and Chris had a classic and beautiful Austin wedding at the Smith Family Chapel and Barton Creek Resort. The officiant opened their ceremony talking about just how perfect the day was, and he was totally right. The tiniest details were tended to and coordinated perfectly by Clink Events. Myles and Chris were so casual and calm all day, both so obviously excited to be marrying each other. After their adorable first dance (which you will see some of in this video) Chris gave the sweetest speech in which he said he knows that Myles is the one reason why God put him on this earth. That’s love! Enjoy their wedding day preview below.
Megan and David are so sweet! I had the best time getting to know them and be a part of their wedding day. As many people joked about in their toasts during the reception, Megan and David got married on what felt like the hottest day of the year in the courtyard at The Mansion at Judges Hill. I think the high that day was around 105! Regardless of the heat, their wedding was perfect. After their super sweet ceremony, everyone moved inside for a night of dancing and toasting to the newly married couple before they were whisked away by pedi cab to their honeymoon in Hawaii.
Their photographers name was Nicole Chatham – make sure to check out their photos on her blog!
Jennifer and Brian had a beautiful Sunday morning wedding right on the waterfront in Brooklyn. With only a three month engagement, Jen and Brian were able to plan a perfect day! The history of their relationship began in high school and they remained friends over the years before finally ending up together. Their ceremony was full of Jewish tradition and included the most beautiful words from their Rabbi. Jennifer and Brian I wish you a lifetime of happiness!
In case you haven’t noticed, McKenzie Miller Films has a brand new look! I have been working for the past several months with Brian Authement on my new branding, website and blog design. I am so excited! I love how everything came together. We are going to finish up some new business cards, letterhead and welcome packets for all of my couples as well. It is so fun to see everything live and in person after dreaming about it since the beginning of the year. If you haven’t had a chance to visit the new site yet, make sure to take a look!
In other exciting news, we are one of the newest members of Style Me Pretty’s Little Black Book! After admiring the work on SMP for the last few years, I was so honored to be contacted by them about joining the book. I was out of town for 2 weddings this weekend so I didn’t even see the post where my name was mentioned, so it was extra exciting to go back and catch up on all of the content I missed and to see my name on the site. If you aren’t a regular reader of SMP, start now. It’s bursting at the seams with amazing inspiration.
